This project was initiated to provide additional car parking and to establish safe accessible pedestrian access to new hospital facilities. The project provided the opportunity to revitalise the existing site landscape and provide a series of new outdoor spaces for staff and visitors to use and enjoy.

At the outset of the project the site and buildings were very vulnerable to serious damage from extreme storm water events. Aquatic Systems Management provided best practice water sensitive urban design solutions to enable the new landscape to better accommodate flood events and to harvest storm water for reuse.

The project also provided an improved landscape for the Mental Health Unit that was developed in close consultation with Unit staff.
